Georgia Tennant left shaken as police step in over online death threats

Georgia Tennant contacted police after she received another wave of death threats on social media.

The 40 year old actress shared screenshots of abusive messages that told her to “die for good” and used vile insults.

Several posts also labelled her as the former wife of David Tennant and tried to shame her with cruel comments.

One message included coffin and knife emojis alongside the line, “Die you dirty Georgia you are very sick.”

Tennant, however, tagged the Metropolitan Police and Instagram in her posts as she sought help and answers.

She made clear she would not ignore the threats and wanted the platforms and police to take the matter seriously.

This was not the first time Tennant faced such abuse, as in September she revealed that a stalker offered a reward for her murder in messages on Facebook.

At that time she posted a screenshot of the threat and publicly asked social networks to explain what counted as a breach of their rules.

The Daily Mail found more disturbing posts aimed at Tennant. One comment warned that an obituary would appear soon for a certain person.

Another message claimed the writer planned to do whatever it took to be with David Tennant and said Georgia must be killed.

A separate post urged others to vote in favour of killing her.

For the unversed, Georgia married actor David Tennant in 2011 and the couple raised a blended family together with Ty, Olive, Wilfred, Doris and Birdie.

Fans and colleagues expressed shock at the threats and called for swift action. Police confirmed they were examining the messages and said the case was under review as they looked into the posts.
